Hi, my washing machine won’t drain the fabric conditioner compartment during the rinse cycle. The water supply is ok, the holes are not blocked. It just stopped sending water down the 3d compartment. I opened up the machine and checked that it has two valves - one sending water to the first compartment (pre-wash), the second valve sends the water to the 2nd compartment - main wash. There’s no other valves and nothing seems to be broken or missing. I don’t exactly understand how this is supposed to work and what can be the issue - both valves work fine. During the rinse cycle, the machine drains the water down to compartment 1 and then compartment 2, but compartment 3 where the fabric conditioner is will not be drained.

After some thoughts, I concluded that the only possible way for the 3d compartment to be filled with only two valves was to open them both, and as such it is likely that the valves needed replacement. Indeed, after the valves were replaced, the problem was gone.

This is correct. Here’s the relevant page from the service manual on how the dispenser compartments fill up:

It’s an easy fix to replace the inlet valve and they’re widely and cheaply available on ebay, the hardest part is getting the spring hose clamps off inside for which you need a pair of pliers. Other than that just need a screwdriver to get the back off.
