Im replacing a smashed screen, everything went ok, tested the lcd and worked after screen off. Then i removed lcd and digitiser and replaced with new digitiser and it booted up to apple logo then went blank. I then reseated battery and lcd connections and backlight not working now and tried soft reset but to no joy. By not removing the battery first have i blown the backlight? I dont have a clue about soldering so really want to avoid this route. Any other options?
What is going on here is that the iPad requires a functional digitizer in order to fully boot the display. When you see an Apple logo then nothing–that equals a digitizer problem. In your case, Wes, this is because the digitizer fpc connector is mangled—you may not have a backlight problem at all. But you will need to get that connector replaced, possibly also a backlight fuse but maybe not. Then this mini will be fine. jessa

Several months ago I spent something like this with a mini ipad retina… I connect the new LCD and everything ok, connect the new touch and the LCD blinked a few times and did not return on the LCD. My mistake was to have turned on the ipad and do not disconnect the battery at the time of change of the parts…
