The earpiece on my 5S is not working after i changed proximity flex. At first I thought maybe it had something to do with bad connection, sprongs on speaker etc. So i cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol. Not successful. Now I have soldered the earpiece into place but it still doesn’t work. Any ideas what this may be about? Hope someone else has experienced the same error. Regards Rikard
Rikard, the rate of defective spare parts is extremely high. Examine the connector on the board where that flex attaches. If you see nothing missing/broken/part removed, then do as Jason suggested and order a new front cam assembly and of course a new ear speaker in case you ruined this one in the soldering process. Order those parts from a reputed seller that will stand behind their products with a solid warranty, this way you will be less likely to receive a defective parts, or otherwise it will be replaced for you. I suggest iFixit parts because of their high quality and lifetime warranty. You’ll need to minimize the number of times you open your phone, since every time you attempt a repair, there’s that inherent risk that you damage something. Good luck!
Try a new flex assembly.
I went through 4 of these flex assemblies before I had one that worked, as mentioned already, very high failure rate in my experience.
Yesterday we had a problem with iphone 5s earpiece. we replaced the earpiece, the problem wasnt solved, replaced flex cable wasnt solved, after I was angry, and I tried restore with itunes. Haha, the problem was solved :) the earpice is working well :)
