Check inside the audio jack with a flashlight. There may be a piece of lint or part of the plug from the last earphones you used stuck in there. Use a sewing needle or a very thin pair of tweezers to remove any foreign objects. If it doesn’t work, the iPod will have to be disassembled and have the audio jack cleared out that way

I am shocked I did the same thing. I was freaking out cause I use my iPhone 6 Plus and headphones A lot. There was a piece of lent inside my headphones jack hole thing. Took a paper clip and I got it out. Thank god!!! Didn’t wanted to go to the Apple store
