I started hearing my dvd drive trying to eject but there is no disk so I tried running off of dvd on startup but no it now can’t read the drive the disk dosent even comeup I was trying to run disk utility but it cant repair unless it off startup disk!! So I tried target mode and repaired it off another computer said it repaired it but no still not working !! I can hear the drive working, Im a Mac guy since day one of mac’s. I dont know what to do Next? Help
I’ve never had much luck repairing optical drives. Sometimes a lens cleaning disk will work. If you are under warranty, just have Apple replace it with a new one. If you are out of warranty, try the cleaning disc as @mayer suggested. If for some reason that doesn’t work, replace the optical drive.
I got new dvd drive when it stop working , have you check whit Apple : I think it was something wrong whit some of the dvd drive on the marked . It take a cd but can not read ore writ . It can work one some cd but not one adders ,like install CD . May English is bad but i tray to say that in some cases they give you new drive and install it for you .
