My partner dropped her laptop. I have a Thunderbolt cable on the way so I can backup the disk using my laptop in Target Disk mode. Does boot up. Apple logo and keyboard backlight do not come on. Display does power on, as I can see the difference in color between the display and the display’s housing. Here’s what I’ve done: flashlight test - can’t see anything stillSMC resetboot to safe modeunplugged display cable and plugged back in Anything else I should try? What can I check further with the display and the logic board, and which one should I replace? edit: Plugged in my other laptop’s external display via HDMI and for some reason my partner’s MBP’s display is working now. Strange. It does have some fragmentation to go with that, however. It flickers every now and then, and has lots of “static” in the background, typically only noticeable in dark colors. What part can I replace to fix this?

Plugging into HDMI made the MBP’s display come on. It continued to flicker and show a static-like anomaly at the pixel level, especially noticeable in dark colors. However, the flickering and that “static” went away after a while. Everything is operating normally, even after a restart.
