Hi I have a Honda accord 2000 honda accord 3.0 automatic 6 cylinder. Last night my wife driving when a car driving by splashed her and the honda the engine then died the engine and wnt to start it again and now it won’t start I jwork for AAA and had the battery about and the alternator about 2 months ago tested and they tested good just replaced the sparkplugs too so I doubt its either of those. I threw a jump pack on it and the the only light that came on when I turned the key was the oil light. Really confused no power no crank. Any suggestions? Im really puzzeled by this.
My guess is that most likely some water got into a connector connecting some sensor or other to the engine management computer. Some years ago I went through a puddle after which the engine kept revving uncontrollably. Multiple visits to the garage failed to diagnose it and they even changed the EMC, but eventually they removed the connector on a sensor hidden under the inlet manifold, cleaned up the contacts, and the problem was gone! (That was on a Rover 200, but a similar fault could affect almost any car with an EMC.)
