Chosen Solution

I have a new phone that I use the majority of the time instead of the one with all my old pictures and notes on it, so I didn’t notice right away when my roommate put the old phone in the washing machine on accident. It was in there for at least an hour, I think, but I don’t know how long it was in there for exactly. When we discovered it, I panicked and immediately tried to charge it and see if it would turn on (I now know that this was not good to do at all) but put both it and the SIM card in rice swiftly afterwards whenever that didn’t work. Please tell me it that it is not completely ruined as that would utterly devastate me. iCloud has never worked for my family (complicated internet situation) and that phone literally has 6+ years worth of pictures and info on it that I was never able to fully backup to another device. I want to take it to an official repair place as well but the nearest one is over an hour drive away and I don’t know how soon I can rush it there. Is it broken forever?? (I am not tech savvy at all and my family went years without internet or computer access so I apologize if I’m just stupid.)

If you want to try repairing it yourself, I would start with getting a replacement display (guide here). If it still doesn’t work, replace the battery(guide here). If you want to get your data back, I would recommend trying Rossmann Repair Group.
