I was taking apart an iPhone X and noticed something looked weird to the back side of the display where the earpiece and speaker are mounted. Turns out, it is a tiny piece of glass that sits in front of the flood illuminator. Well, it was cracked in half and won’t be able to go back in. My question is, can the flood illuminator function normally without that piece of glass?
Unfortunately no, it won’t.
