As I want to give my switch lite to my little brother I was wondering if the wifi ic on the mainboard can be desoldered without causing any functionality issues ( other than the lack of wifi of course) as he is is not allowed to have any “wifi compatible” devices? Btw please no suggestions for the Nintendo parental control app or something like this, been there done that:)

I haven’t come across any device where an uninstalled Wi-Fi chip would stop it functioning. However if too much heat is applied while removing it you could end up with a brain dead Nintendo.  Make sure you clean the pads after removal in case of some bridging and make sure you don’t nudge any of the other components around the chip.
