I’m wondering if the 2015 display assembly fits and works on the 2014 MacBook Pro. Because bloody ifixit store just gave out the last 2014 display stock to someone else while I’m in the middle of checkout process. Thanks,

No, late 2013-2014 screens are compatible, 2015 screens only work with 2015 models.

But WHY are they not compatible?
