i heard that when replacing original ‘Apple hard drive’ with ‘other brand hard drive’ you could experience wrong sensor reading so to solve that problem (overheating) you have to change original ‘Apple sensor’ with ‘different brand’ as well. what you think about it? thanks and regards, martin
There could be issues with some brands. I installed a Seagate ST31500341AS, 1.5TB in my system a good while back and have had no issues. I would recommend getting a USB/SATA reader. This way, when you put in the new drive and install OS/X you can connect up the old drive via USB and copy off any files or other data.
