We tipped a glass of water (plain), hit the machine, and it does nothing even after drying out. I suspect the logic board to be gone, but how do I make sure? Also, can I fit boards from similar models in? I had replaced the battery a month before the accident, so I am not easily scared :-)

First thing to do is try to figure out the extent of the damage. Open it up and look! Dry out things if they are wet. You may have just shorted out the keyboard thus preventing a boot signal from the power on button. If it is dry, disconnect the mag-safe. Disconnect the battery from the logic board. Press and hold the power on button for 10 seconds. Reconnect it and see if you get a spontaneous reboot.

What you want to do is take out the Logic Board and any other part that has components on it that are exposed (DC in board, I/O board, SSD) and clean it with >90% Isopropyl Alcohol. Look for corrosion and obviously damaged spots while you do have the logic board out. Your Logic Board is most likely a goner but it’s worth a shot.
