Hello everybody, My old macpro 1186 from 2007 stopped running after installing software. I tried tocopy a folder on the desktop from a usb stick but with no success therefore I forced quit finder. After that every folder, including HD icons, disappeared from desktop so I decided to power off from I/O button. When restarting the machine stays stuck on tje gray apple logo
See if it will boot from the original system installation DVD. To do that load the disk (hit the eject button in the upper right corner of your keyboard to open the tray). Now reboot and hold down the C key. Now see if you can run Disk Utilities on the internal hard drive.
H i Daniele, Have you tried looking into the the Apple discussion boards? Here is an example of the same problem that you are having that may help you https://discussions.apple.com/thread/507… . If that doesn’t work there is a good possibility that you hard drive is going south and you may need to replace it. I hope that this helps you. Jim
