Does i7 3770K work for iMac 21.5-inch late 2012 (iMac 13,1 model:A1418(EMC2544)). Because someone told me K version is not supported and as a result I need i7 3770s for upgrade? Is it true? Thank you.
First lets work off of the spec sheets: The chip you are asking about: Core i7 3770K Your systems series: Late 2012/Early 2013 - 21.5” iMac (iMac13,1) The best you could use is I7-3770S Here’s that chips spec sheet: Core i7 3770S So what is different?? The TDP 77 W vs 65 W So bottomline you need the Core i7 3770S chip! As your systems cooling and power is not designed to support the hotter running chip.
