A customer gave me an iPhone 6 to replace the cracked screen. After replacing i realized that the touch screen becomes unresponsive. It needs a restart to work again. After contacting the customer, he told me that he had touch issues and the front camera and the earpiece speaker stopped working after replacing an old screen. My question is, does changing the front camera cable and sensor fix the touch unresponsiveness? Are they connected in a way?
Hi @ramitabaa. The FCAM and Sensor flex should not have an impact on the Touch functionality. However, the opposite can be true if someone tried to reflow the Touch IC’s and applied too much heat. On the opposite side of the logic board, where the Touch IC’s reside, is a series of passive components that connect, via the FPC connector, to the front camera and sensors. When too much heat gets applied to the Touch IC’s, the passives can float off their pads by the expanding epoxy holding them in place and have bad or intermittent contact. Realistically, this phone needs to be looked at by someone who does micro-soldering repairs to be properly diagnosed.
