I installed a 3rd party screen on my iphone 6 after it got dunked, now I’ve been forced to restore to iOS 12. The home button only works to enter DFU mode and reset the device. I can’t use the home button to return to the home screen or switch apps. Can anybody else confirm this issue so I can be certain I haven’t damaged the home button connector? I have an OEM home button ready to install.
Aftermarket home buttons don’t retain the touch ID function but they will work for anything else. You can try it to figure out if the issue you’re experiencing disappears with it, to understand if the original button was damaged or the problem comes from the logic board side. In case the problem is still there with the replacement HB, check carefully all connectors involved, better if with a good light source and magnification.
