While my iPhone was docked in my Bose sound dock seriesII, a nearby glass was spilled and some liquid got into the docking port area of the sound dock and the iPhone. I’ve followed all the instructions here on the site, took the phone apart except removal of the battery. Dried all componentes out, everything clipped back together. When I plug it in using the pwr cord, the phone vibrates constantly and the battery charge signal turns on & off. Its like the phone receives the signal to charge, but it won’t stay steady, off on off on…the phone stays on, only the charging process doesn’t activate. Could the liquid have damaged the docking port on the phone or the logic card too? Is the phone repairable? When hooked to the computer, nothing happens, no charge, no vibe, no recognition from the computer. All the phone functions work, ipod, wireless signal good, cell signal good, ipod functions well, just won’t take the charge or be recognized by the computer. ~help~

The computer USB port generally doesn’t supply enough power when batteries are kaput to charge/be recognised. Seeing a phone “cycle” in quick bursts on and off is also a sign of a dead/dying battery ( not enough power to get into boot mode) as the connection for the battery is about an inch from the bottom of the iPhone I think you can assume it has liquid damage. The vibrate motor being directly above the battery connection may just need a good clean. I would change your battery (cheapest option) and reassess. You may still need a new dock or it may be that you’ve damage to the logicboard, but try the cheap option and see. Good luck

I received the replacement battery and dock connector, cleaned and installed new components….so far so good. Everything seems to be working as advertised. Plugged in now, taking a charge like it should. All functions work, phone, iPod, apps ect… Thanks to all who advised me what to do and this web site for some very helpful info, parts and quick shipping! You all definately saved me some time and money. Being in Italy, the local techs would have probably kept the phone for a month and would have charged me 2x the amt I spent to fix it myself. Thanks again!
