Hi, im going to swap a screen on an iPhone 6plus and I know I have to swap the home button over to keep the Touch ID but do I also need to swap the long flex home button cable on the back of the shield to keep the Touch ID as well?

Generally speaking, the replacement screen will not come with the LCD Shield Plate. The Home Button Extension flex is secured to the back of the LCD Shield Plate. So when you replace a screen, you have to remove the Shield Plate from the original, cracked screen and move it over, along with the Home Button and the Camera/Sensor flex over to the replacement screen. Follow this guide to see what I mean. Some replacement screens are “Full Assembly”, such as this one (look at the picture of the back). For those, you only need to migrate the Home Button.
