If the vibrator has stopped working in my iPhone, and I’ve powercycled and restored (and double checked the settings…), to no avail, can I assume that I need to replace the vibrator module? Or could it be a different hardware issue? Thanks Also, is there a big difference between the OEM vibrator modules (avail for $40) and the non-OEM (avail for $6)? Does iFixit have a recommended source?
Yep, you need to replace the vibrator. It’s up to you whether you buy from the OEM or not but I would always feel safer with the OEM, especially if the Non-OEM seems a little too cheap
Vibrator may be blocked by the display assembly. Get some free vibration.app, and listen carefully, if there’re ticking noises when you run the app. If they are present, you don’t need new vibro. In my case i had to press down the vibrator platform, as it had been bent a bit up to the screen (the vibro has little “paws” that must be placed under the battery), and place some tape-padding on the display back near the vibrator head, as it seems that default strips became flattened with time.
