I don’t think this is possible as the iMac SD card unit is a raw interface frame it doesn’t have the needed logic to hook up externally (USB). Given the cost of a simple unit USB 3.0 SD Card Reader Or if you want something for your desk, I would go with something like this (USB-C) SanDisk ImageMate PRO USB-C Reader/Writer - SDDR-A631
