Hi y’all! Last night I replaced the battery of my 2012 Retina MacBook Pro 15". After the new battery was in and the casing was screwed back I turned the MacBook on. Everything worked fine (few!). Just like the repair manual said, I didn’t plug the charger in and let the battery drain while I used it. At the end of the night, when the battery was empty and the computer turned off, I plugged the charger in and went to bed. (the charging light was orange) This morning the charging light was green, so I turned my MacBook on again. I heard the fans whooshing, but the display stayed completely black (not even the bleedthrough of the backlight). I tried this a few times and every time it started up I heard the fans whooshing without anything happening to the display. I opened the laptop up again, and removed the battery cable from the motherboard for ~10 seconds before plugging it in again. This didn’t help either. I thought it might be a misplaced cable, but I didn’t saw anything out of the ordinary. This is my first ‘real’ repair (except a few iPhone screen replacements), so I have no idea what the problem could be. Does anyone of you know what the problem could be? I made some close-up shots of the motherboard, which you can find here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/fphxsosik4pfg… Thank you! Ruben the Netherlands Update (01/12/2018) I uploaded some better photo’s of the connector here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/fphxsosik4pfg… Before reconnecting

While not the best image (IMG_0128.JPG) it’s the only one that shows the display connector. It appears the connector is not fully seated. Take a closer image of the display cable connection. I would first disconnect the battery before resetting so you don’t blow the fuse. Update (01/14/2018) Lets try doing an SMC reset, follow this Apple T/N How to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac as well as a NVRAM (PRAM) reset following this Apple T/N How to reset NVRAM on your Mac

Hi Ruben! I have the same issue after doing a battery replacement on my Macbook Retina 2012. Did you find a solution? Nice regards, Armin
