Hello! Since last weekend the screen of my Macbook Pro 2018 touchbar only shows 6 vertical colour screens (the one that is not magenta is changing every time) and I can’t see anything except in certain positions of the screen (approx 45º) that shows the normal image, obviously this makes it hardly usable XD. I’ve connected to an external screen and It shows the image properly and I can use the computer perfectly, it reproduces the image correctly on that screen, so I understand that the problem is with the screen or the screen connector to the computer body, not a graphics processor or similar problem. Does anyone know what component it could be and if there is any way to repair it without going to the repair service and paying no less than 600€? Thanks

Sadly Apple’s newer display design placed the T-CON board within the main case in the worse place! Baking away! The T-CON board is the logic which converts the video signal to the grid matrix (X-Y) lines that drive the LDC panel. Here’s a view of a iMac T-CON ribbon connection between the T-CON and panel for reference.

Now lets look at what yours looks like

Now let’s see why heat is such an issue with it.

So understanding the issue and where the part that’s failed is located we can address if this is repairable without replacing the full display assembly - Its just not possible! Getting a good T-CON board and having the needed delicate soldering skills to desolder and resolder the T-CON is just not possible, Sorry ;-{ Time to get to the repair shop or locate the needed display part and follow this guide MacBook Pro 13" Touch Bar 2018 Screen Replacement
