Chosen Solution
We own a 2008 20" Intel iMac (model A1224, EMC 2210). While booting (if the iMac is cold), the display looks normal for a few seconds, then turns to a lot of thin color vertical lines. A warm reboot immediately gives the vertical lines on the screen. The video circuitry seems fine, since connecting an external monitor (and using video mirroring) shows the usual desktop on this external display. Is the problem related to the inverter or the display itself ? Many thanks in advance for the help. J. Lejeune Update Thanks for the infos. There is no current Repair Program on Apple Support for this issue. I will try to get hand on a video cable to replace it, and see if it cures the problem. This will be the most affordable option, I guess. The Apple part of the LVDS cable is 922-8197 for this iMac (A1224-Early 2008-MB324LL). Jo Lejeune
This was/is a “known issue” on that age/model iMac. Go to Apple Support and enter your serial number to see if there is an extended waranty repair available. It could be the inverter, a cable (most likely) or the display (LCD) itself. If this answer was helpful please remember to mark it accepted.''
