Hi, I have a 2009 unibody macbook pro and i bought it with a slightly damaged display connector. I am just wondering is there any way to fix that connector with some tweezers or small tools without soldering? Here is a photo for reference
If you don’t have the needed tools or skills its best to find someone with micro soldering skills and tools. Replacing the LVDS connector is a bit tricky as you need to remove the connector without lifting the fragile copper traces on the PCB. I would use a broad blade tip like this one as you need to heat all of the contacts soldered to the PCB at once. Using a hot air station it a bit tricky without knocking off some of the other components but with the experience its the better way.
Here’s a bit on what Louis Rossmann uses for tools and how the LVDS connector is removed: The tools I use and why I bought themIron - Replacing LVDS connector on A1286 Unibody Macbook Pro with Weller WMP65Hot Air - Macbook Air no backlight and no image on LCD logic board repair
