So I got 2 macbooks pro mid and early 2012 I the mid 2012 has a little rust (the client says that I never got wet) and the keyboard doesn’t work and the power button So I want to use the keyboard from the early 2012 mbp but I can’t connect the display on the logic board of the mid 2012 mbp but on the early mbp I can use the connector. Am I doing something wrong?
The Early 2011 & Late 2011 models use a slightly .025 mm wider connector. Apple started using a different vendors product on the Mid 2012 model which is not quite the same size. You can fix this two ways - You can carefully file the edge down a bit (both sides ever so slightly) or replace the display cable its self with the 2012 version. Do keep in mind the 2011 models have an FaceTime HD and the 2012 model has FaceTime 720.
