Hi all! I have the following issue with my MBP 15" Mid 2015. Display cover was strongly closed so display and apple logo in the front doesn’t work. MBP works normally with external display. I’ve tried reseting SMC and NVRAM, but it didn’t help. I’ve tried reconnecting display cable aswell but nothing happened. Is there anything else I may try to do before changing the display? Thanks in advance.

You can try to shine a flashlight through the Apple logo and see if you can see a faint picture on the display. If so, then there’s a problem with your backlight. It’s quite easy to open up the MacBook and check the cables. Just follow this guide (not the exact same model, but close enough): MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Mid 2014 Display Assembly Replacement If checking the cables doesn’t solve things then your backlight fuse might be fried and has to be replaced. This is a board level repair so very difficult to do yourself.

Swap it for a different display assembly to see if it’s the display or the logic board issue. If it’s the logic board, board level repair is better than just replacing the board.

The cable is most likely dislodged from the lcd rather then the logic board you could try taking the display off and tapping it upside down to see if you can get it back into place without taking the glass off. I know this seems like a weird fix but its worked in the past with dropped iPads and MacBooks.
