Chosen Solution
Hi folks, Sometime back, we bought a cheap refurbished mini PC off eBay to stream online video onto a Linsar 55" TV. It came with a display adapter, and to get the signal to the HDMI input of the TV, I got a converter off eBay. It was working just fine until we moved house. Now, when I set up the PC with the TV, everything is the same, but there is no audio output although the HDMI display is fine on the TV. Here are the details of the PC in case you’re interested: Hewlett-Packard HP EliteDesk 800 G1 USDT BIOS Version L01 v02.65 Date 7/13/2015 MOTHERBOARD Manufacturer Hewlett-Packard Model 18E5 Version Unknown OPERATING SYSTEM Edition Microsoft Windows 10 Pro (64-bit) Version (Build) 20H2 (10.0.19042) Devices and Drivers PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ i3-4170 CPU @ 3.70GHz GRAPHICS Intel® HD Graphics 4400 AUDIO Realtek High Definition Audio NETWORKING AND I/O TAP-Windows Adapter V9 TP-Link Wireless USB Adapter Intel® Ethernet Connection I217-LM MEMORY 8 GB One thing I forgot to mention is that the DP to HDMI converter got damaged while still connected to the PC due to an impact, and I did have to change the converter. But there seems to be no hardware problem as such that I can tell, since the display comes on just fine on the TV. There just isn’t any audio. As I mentioned, it was working fine before we moved. Windows 10 did do some updates recently, but I’m unable to see any rollback options for those. I’m not sure if this would have anything to do with things necessarily. I also tried to update the display drivers, but no change. I’ve checked the Control Panel for audio devices that would be related to the Display and there’s nothing except the Realtek audio out. So, I’m more inclined to think there is a software issue - unless there’s something I’m not aware of. I’ve tried looking online for solutions but so far nothing has worked. Any suggestions? Thanks again.
I don’t think your display port to hdmi converter supports audio
This problem was solved. It was the new adapter that I had ordered. It didn’t work for audio. I ordered another one and it worked fine. So that was a learning experience for me.
