Ok so my question is does the main board on the Disc Drive have a matching Serial Number on the Motherboard to be able to verify it is the correct board pairing or is the only option is to plug an pray . this question is in reference to having multiple Xbox main boards and multiple disc drive boards
You are correct. The optical drive and the motherboard need to be paired at the factory in order for the ODD to function with the mobo. Unfortunately it does not seem like there is a way to pair ODDs and mobos that have not been paired at the factory.
