iMac 27" EM2309 I installed the SSD optical drive kit in my 2009 27" iMac with Core i5 processor. The SSD is a Samsung EVO 850. Worked amazingly for a few months. I used the SSD for the OS. Unfortunately, now I am getting intermittent crashes which are bad crashes - the whole systems freezes and is unresponsive. The only way to get the computer back up is to hold onto the power button and do a hard-restart. I wonder whether one of the incremental updates to Mac OS Sierra is the culprit and is no longer playing well with the SSD? It is really unfortunate as the computer is now essentially unusable for doing any important work as I lose everything when these crashes occur. I cannot pinpoint factors that lead to a crash, but it seems to happen mostly when browsing in Safari. Anyone else have a similar problem with this drive and kit? Thanks!
The 2009 EMC is a Core 2 Duo, either a 3.06 or 3.33. The EMC 2374 is either a i5 or i7. Do you have run away fan issues? Did you address the temperature sensor issue when replacing the hard drive? If not, here is your solution: https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/DIDI…
