My iPhone 8+ screen is cracked. It seems to have been struck at the left edge of the fingerprint reader. I want to fix the phone but am concerned about the reader being damaged as i understand a replaced reader will not read fingerprints again unless it is replaced by Apple. A key symptom is “The phone will not charge”. I plug in a cable but the screen stays blank. SO, what is the likely hood i can reuse the fingerprint reader when replacing the cracked screen?
Unless the home button has suffered physical damage from the drop it should still work fine. However to be 100% sure you will need your phone to boot. So you don’t really have any alternative but to replace the screen. If it still won’t boot you could check the battery and dock, other than that you will need it looked at by a repair shop.
