My previous battery was functioning OK but was swollen so I ordered a replacement battery kit from IFIXIT. The install went fine and system is working OK but running diagnostics (power on - D) shows a PPT004 error. Checking the battery status (Option -Battery icon) shows Condition: Normal. Any suggestions? Is this normal for a NON-Apple battery? Below is my System Report - Power Battery Information:
Model Information: Serial Number: -Serial Number Removed- Manufacturer: SMP Device Name: -Device Name Removed- Pack Lot Code: 0 PCB Lot Code: 0 Firmware Version: 2 Hardware Revision: 00aa Cell Revision: 2 Charge Information: Charge Remaining (mAh): 8789 Fully Charged: Yes Charging: No Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 8789 Health Information: Cycle Count: 3 Condition: Normal Battery Installed: Yes Amperage (mA): 0 Voltage (mV): 12996 I’m sure if I took it to Apple they would say it’s the NON-Apple battery. It would be nice to clear this error but if not the battery replacement was successful anyway. Thanks for any suggestions.
Recalibrate the battery. Let it run all the way down and then fully charge it back up.
