Chosen Solution

Ok so have had 2 customers this past month who have a 5s 16GB that have had a home button replacement therefore has no Touch ID. The battery was draining super fast on both devices, literally 3-4 hours from 100% to switch off even on stand by mode. I have replaced batteries on both devices but it does not solve the issue. Leading me to believe that it is something to do with the Touch ID not being active. It is switched off in settings as it’s unable to setup a finger on it. Have tried obvious resets and used genuine battery replacements Any ideas or has anyone seen this before?

Hi, Nothing to do with home button replacements and no Touch ID. They have more than likely used cheap cables or charged in car, damaging the tristar chip, this causes extreme battery drain, you would need someone who can do microsoldering to replace the tristar chip. :-)

After replacing the original Home Button with a 3rd party one my iPhone drained its battery in 4-8hrs. I connected it to my macbook and opened the console. It would constantly show errors belonging to AppleMesaSEPDriver / biometrick sensor until the battery was empty. I went to the repair shop and they tried 3 different 3rd party homebuttons. ONLY the third one worked, the two others showed the errors. The working one still shows an error that touchID is not working, but ONLY one error - not constantly 100k errors until the battery is empty :) So if you got this don’t get talked into changing the battery - connect to the console, look up the error and change the home button! If your repair shop doesnt find a working home button, disconnect the home button completely and go with assistive touch (digital home button). It’s better than draining your battery. good luck.

Hi my touch id for the iphone 6 failed too and i had erratic battery drain, got the battery repalced and yet no change, the battery kept dying fast, took it to the Apple service centre and they didnt know what the issue was. They told me to replace the phone but i thought ill disconnect the touch id cable on the top right inside the phone, did that and the stand by drain stopped. The home button cant be used but i got assistive touch. You could try this too if you dont want to buy a new phone.

Hi, I have an iphone 5s iphone, it works slowly or it’s one of them. I replaced the touch but still got it problem. What’s your problem?
