Hi everyone. About a month ago my charger for my mac needed replacing, so I used my mac till the battery was really low then turned it off, planning to use it when I got myself a new charger. When I tried to turn it on with the new charger the laptop remained lifeless. The magsafe displayed a green light, saying the battery was charged, but I knew this not to be the case as I’d let it run down on charge. After trying several solutions I deduced it was an old battery that needed replacing - as it wasnt receiving any charge. So I ordered a new battery, popped it in an the laptop came on and everything was fine again. Good as new. Today however it is doing exactly the same as under the previous battery. I was using it this morning and put the lid down… went to turn it on and the same problems are back. It seems that if the battery gets really low the laptop cant detect any charge. Pulling my hair out with this. Any fixes/ideas? A few points.. the mac wont even turn on without a battery and Iv tried smc reset and absolutely nothing happens. FWIW, I hadn’t yet recalibrated power on the new battery. Any help much appreciated. Stu
There isn’t much one can do to help you at a distance with a logic board failure. Your Mac should start on its own as soon as you plug in the Magsafe when battery is not connected..add to that the fact it doesn’t even charge the battery and you’re left with a high chance the battery charging circuit is faulty. All you can do is try to find a Lab into component level repairs or replace your logic board.
