Hello, I have a Samsung 55inch plasma tv (PS50C550G1FXXY). It was working perfectly fine until last week. While watching it (shortly after turning it on) there was a very loud bang and crackling noises, the screen went black instantly. I turned it off at the power point and back on again. The screen remained dead. At first it made some more loud crackling noises, but then the sound went back to normal (you can hear the tv show but cannot see it). All functions except for the screen seem to be working fine (power light is on, can swap between sources, etc). Does anyone know if the screen is repairable? I understand it’s a fairly old model, so may not be able to be repaired/may not be cost effective. Any advice appreciated, thanks!
Hi, I don’t know plasmas that well but with both LED screen panels and plasma screen panels if there is a panel problem then it can’t be repaired and the panel (if you can find one) has to be replaced. Here’s an image taken from the service manual that may help. Be patient when downloading the manual as it takes a while to go from processing to Download after you have passed the security check and clicked on Go to Download, under the Document preview box. Items 2 thru 4 seem to be relevant to the problem with the TV so perhaps you can check the connections between the panel and the boards and also the components on the X-Main board, the Y-main board and the Logic board for any obvious damage such as blown capacitors or heat stressed other components.
