Chosen Solution
PLEASE READ, VITAL INFORMATION Hi, I have an IPhone 6s and I’m having a problem. The screen, battery and lightning port started to fail so I was forced to replace several days ago, repair was finished correctly, the screen ribbon connectors ended up snapping after an accident after the repair. The phone worked after the screen stopped and I was even able to take calls while using headphones. The phone stayed on and because of the new battery wouldn’t die, and I had to replace the screen so I had the choice of plugging in the screen while the battery was plugged in and on or I could unplug the battery with a plastic pry tool so I did that. I set up my phone but now it won’t even power up, the screen turned on for a moment a couple hours after fiddling around with it but shut off immediately and didn’t even get to the apple logo screen, then the Taptic motor was able to run when I held the Off and Volume rockers in but it wouldn’t work when toggling the silent/ring switch. The battery is taking power but I can’t figure it out. I took it to UBreakIFix but they said they can’t figure it out, they say that the problem is a fried motherboard but then why would the Taptic motor and screen have toggled on? I’m still missing the ribbon that connects to the headset and front facing camera but the pros can’t figure it out, please help me I have vital information and photos on the phone that I couldn’t get backed up. Thank You and Sincerely Carter Shafer
Battery always needs to be the first out and last in when replacing parts. With power running into circuits is quite easy to short rails and the ones feeding screen backlight are high voltage. It’s quite possible that’s your issue; to get confirmation go to a darker environment and shine a bright light to your screen, toggle power/home button or plug in charging cable. If you see a very dimmed image you should be able to operate your iPhone normally and backup your data. Fixing a backlight issue needs microsoldering expertise and tools, not a DIY repair. If you have no image at all, I’d try a screen replacement.
