Ten/fifteen minutes later I turned it on again and I have a double display. I completely powered i off and started hairdrying it (have now realised this was a bad idea), put it in rice for 10 minutes (found out this is also a bad idea), and now I’m letting it air dry....

Most reputable SSD suppliers (example only) provide instructions and links to the software required for cloning the existing HDD to the SSD. Note that for your model a 9.5mm adapter is required with the SSD to ensure that it is positioned correctly in the HDD bay in the laptop. Sometimes this is supplied with the SSD but check first just to be sure if you use other suppliers and it is not stated There are also videos on YouTube that show how to do this as well....

Chosen Solution Has anyone seen this problem before… iPhone 6 plus has distorted sound through earpiece only (loud speaker and headphones have good clear sound). I changed earpiece speaker and also flex cable but no improvement - sound still distorted. The phone doesn’t appear to have been opened before and hasnt suffered water damage. I would have thought it was the audio ic if sound was distorted on loudspeaker and earphones too, but this is not the case....

I’d be repalcing it. While you replace the screen check and double check the connectors for bend or broken pins as well.
