Chosen Solution Got a donated G5 20" iMac with several problems. After replacing power supply, it began to work. Then tried to add RAM (matching chips), but top (2nd) slot doesn’t work. With RAM in 2nd slot, iMac experiences constant kernel panics. Original suggestion from multiple sources said it was likely logic board problem, but this Mac is too old to put money into that. Since it’s 6 years old, and the 2nd RAM slot was never used, IS IT POSSIBLE that the RAM slot merely needs cleaning?...

Chosen Solution iMac “Core 2 Duo” 3.06 24-inch (early 2008) This is my first try with an iMac, helping a friend replace the hard drive… I usually do PC stuff.. I followed the instructions and replaced the Hard Drive in the iMac with a Western Digital 1 TB Desktop SATA drive. It went in flawlessly. Now I need to FORMAT the new HD. Chosen Solution I need to upgrade the system from 10.5.8 to 10.6. No firewire so no target mode. I hooked up my LaCie USB2/Firewire external drive and the profiler sees it but the DVD does not show up. Start up disk in System Preferences does not show it. Show CDs/DVD is on in the Finder preferences. I don’t really want to buy the Apple external drive just to do this, as my LaCie has been great for everything else....

I tried to connect an external monitor and it was working. Then I took a flashlight and pointed it directly to the display.I found that the display is OK, but the lights were still out. However, you should still do a full backup before attempting any repair or sending in a device for service. For non-jailbreak iPhones, the iTunes backup is very complete. For jailbreak phones, install AppBackup from Cydia and follow its backup instructions, then backup using iTunes....

Chosen Solution When I push the button to open DVD slot nothing happens, it it a mechanical problem that needs a tech or something I can fix? Open the unit and reset the flat cable and power connector would be my first action. If no response then you need to prove that the connetions are alive… I leave that to your ingenuity. If you have a spare use it to prove the electrics....

Chosen Solution My iPhone out of warranty. 4 months ago the screen was changed because of a small crack. Dropped my phone ( front side hit the floor) and then I realized both camera and flash light not working. no crack on the screen. Is it because of the broken front camera that affects the whole camera system? I opened the phone following all the instruction in ifixit website and all the ports are connected and not seen any obvious crack or issue....

Chosen Solution Yesterday, I dropped my iPhone 6s on the floor. The phone looked fine (no scratches, no crack etc.) but when I pressed the power button to turn it on it had a white screen. I restarted it by pressing the home and lock button for 10-15 seconds but when I did this the screen just went black and won’t do anything. I tried charging it but nothing happened and I’ve tried restarting it a again but nothing happened....

A couple of weeks after the repair I always notice dust building up inside the camera lens, on both the front and the rear camera. I’m going to replace the logic board on an iPhone 5s soon, so what tricks and precautions do I have to take to make sure this problem doesn’t reoccur? Replacement front cameras or rear cases sometimes come with camera foam gaskets missing....

At startup, it behaves as if it’s performing a firmware update: Press power button, SIL comes on, blinks rapidly about 10 times, then I get one long beep (about 2 seconds). The SIL stays on, then about 25 seconds later, I hear the chime and the Macbook boots up normally....

Chosen Solution i dropped my iphone 6 and the screen went black. i opened it up and noticed a connector had disconnected. i then reconnected it and everything was working just fine except for the front facing camera. after a few attempts to disconnect and reconnect various connectors, the screen went completely black and will not turn on. any idea what could be the cause of the problem? Chosen Solution A user dropped off his iPhone 6 (A1549) because the battery life had failed. A coworker apparently ripped the screen off, tearing four cables. Could someone direct me to the replacements or let me know if this is not repairable without getting a new screen, for instance? EDIT here’s with that cover removed Definitely not repairable without new parts. You need new screen/digitizer assembly, new cable including front camera/microphone/speaker, new home button/touch id cable and from what can be seen a new battery too....

Chosen Solution My speedometer, odometer, and gas gauge stopped working in my 1997 Town and Country minivan what would be wrong Peggy Standring , try this. With the key off, hold the trip odometer reset button in, turn the key on, and in a few seconds the cluster should go into a self test mode. Let go of the button, and all of the lights should come on, and the gauges will cycle....
