Chosen Solution I was swapping top cases on my MacBook pro when I damaged part of the keyboard connector trying to take the ribbon cable out. I tried to put the keyboard ribbon cable back into the connector in my new top case. But it just wouldn’t fit. I could start to see the layers on the ribbon cable spread apart, making it harder to put back in. At that point, I stopped, not trying to make it worse....

The main problem is that you can’t open the display without removing the screw, as it has a long shaft on the end that goes through a tab on the screen to secure the screen in place....

Chosen Solution I just upgraded iMacs from G5 - 17" PowerPC to iMac Duo Core Intel 20" with OS 10.6. I have no discs for anything newer than OSX. Should I wipe the HD entirely and reload OSX, leaving the next owner to upgrade to 10.5.8? I would prefer to wipe all personal stuff, leaving behind the OS. How would I do that? This loss became more and more frequent, and as of now I cannot play the sound from the onboard speakers unless I place something into my headphone or microphone jacks. To be more descriptive, I take a 1/8" headphone jack plug and stick it in about halfway, then angle it downward and hold it there....

It appears the button is fine just the cable needs repaired. any links to parts/guides would be much appreciated :) it sounds like you’ve torn the touch ID ribbon cable, you can replace the home button for a third party one but will lose Touch ID functionality, it will only work as a home button....

The video processor as well as the CRT do not support RGB or any color video. Chosen Solution I first replaced the Inverter cable because the screen would be on for a few moments and then go very, very dim, although easily viewed with a flashlight. I would also have screen for a few moments after closing and reopening the cover. Replaced the logic board: same thing. Replaced the inverter and tested cable continuity: same thing. Firstly I, disconnected the power cable. Then I took out the battery. Pushed on the power button for five seconds and then replaced the battery and power. As the printer expects it to be internal, the WIC count will always trip given enough time and usage even externally cleared. Epson counters are based on pages printed (in other words if you printed on 5% of the page, it burns 1 whole page off the counter; heavy jobs may burn 2 if it has to mid-purge on wide format printers doing a 11x17+ job)....
Chosen Solution Accidentally released the angry pixies of this part when the retina display connector wasn’t plugged in properly and shorted. Does anyone know what this surface mount part is? It looks like a big (0805 maybe) part, maybe a ferrite bead? Hard to tell from the A1398 schematic but I was thinking maybe it’s a 0805 220ohm ferrite bead. Update (03/02/2020) Is it L9000? Seems to be the part that goes when LCD shorts to ground....
